The 2nd Annual Visions of the Black Experience will be held November 12-22, 2020 at New College of Florida.

Join us for the second series celebrating, studying and exploring various aspects of black life.

The second annual Visions of the Black Experience film series celebrates and illuminates the historical, social, and cultural aspects of black life through film. The program includes a unique selection of previously-made documentaries, narrative films, and shorts, as well as new works by emerging filmmakers. Live Q&A’s with filmmakers, panel discussions, and educational opportunities will offer a deeper exploration of the themes of the festival. Themes that will be explored this year will include films by and for youth and young adults, black health and healthcare, and Afrofuturism. While organized in Sarasota, Florida, the online format will allow us to engage audiences locally and around the world.

The series is a collaboration involving the Sarasota Film Festival, New College of Florida, the Boxser Diversity Initiative, the Ringling Museum, the Multicultural Health Institute, and the Manasota ASALH, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
