The Sarasota Film Festival African American Sidebar

Our friend and fellow Director, Judge Charles Williams is working with the Sarasota Film Festival to make sure the films in this year’s festival reflect the diversity of this community as a whole. Although COVID restrictions have severely limited the normal community reach of the festival- this year in light of COVID protocols, they are having a hybrid festival with some limited live events,  however all the films, including the films highlighted in the thread  below will be available online for viewing.

The festival runs from April 29th through May 9th.

Please note the following links and information regarding the 2021 Sarasota Film Festival. This year’s film festival will have all of its films available on line. There are limited live events with appropriate Covid protocols as well.

As part of the Sarasota Film Festival, the African American Sidebar showcases film that are relevant to the African American experience.

They have invited all the filmmakers who are part of the sidebar to a Q&A on May 2nd at 3pm.

They created an African-American sidebar section in the online catalogue as well as a shorts package that includes only the shorts we selected as part of the sidebar.
